The Lolo Pass Visitor Center on the Montana-Idaho border features signs and information on area history. It is open from Memorial Day to the end of summer. Its parking area is a popular winter gathering spot for snowmobilers.

The Lolo Motorway, Forest Service Road 500, is an unpaved road that follows the original trail. It is recommended for summer use by high-clearance vehicles only. Original campsites and historic points are well marked.

In the Clearwater National Forest, parts of the trail are open to hikers and horseback riders. It is advisable to check with the Forest Service before using the road.
